Recent polls conducted by the Teamsters union indicate that President Donald Trump holds a significant lead over Kamala Harris in the race for president in 2024. The union’s polling shows that its members overwhelmingly prefer Trump, with Harris struggling to gain traction.
In the Teamsters Electronic Member Poll, conducted between July 24 and September 15, Trump secured 59.6% support, while Harris received just 34%. The remaining 6.4% expressed support for other candidates. Another poll, the Teamsters Research Phone Poll, conducted between September 9 and 15, echoed similar results. Trump led with 58% support, Harris had 31%, and 6% were undecided, with 5% unsure.
These polls reflect a shift in the union’s political leanings. Traditionally, labor unions like the Teamsters have backed Democratic candidates, but Trump’s policies seem to resonate with more members in this election cycle. Teamsters General President Sean M. O’Brien stressed that the union’s endorsement process is democratic and member-driven.
O’Brien shared the results on X, stating, “The voices of our members are paramount in everything we do.” While the union has yet to endorse a candidate, O’Brien noted that a decision will likely be made soon by the General Executive Board.
With Trump’s support surging among union members, the results of these polls could have significant implications for the outcome of the 2024 election.
