Trump Clashes With Harris: ‘I’m Talking Now’

In a heated exchange during the first 2024 presidential debate, President Donald Trump delivered a cutting response to Vice President Kamala Harris after she attempted to interrupt him. Trump, in the middle of answering a question, paused to address Harris directly, saying, “I’m talking now… does that sound familiar?” The remark was a clear reference to Harris’ famous line during her 2020 debate with Mike Pence, catching her off guard.

The debate, held at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia, was moderated by David Muir and Linsey Davis of ABC News. Throughout the night, Trump clashed with both Harris and the moderators, who were criticized for repeatedly interrupting Trump while giving Harris more leeway.

At one point, when Trump mentioned Democrats supporting extreme abortion policies, Davis stepped in to correct him, despite previous statements from former Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam suggesting otherwise.

Trump used the opportunity to press Harris on her failures as vice president, particularly on immigration and the economy. “Why hasn’t she done it?” Trump asked, pointing out that Harris has had over three years to address these issues. Harris struggled to defend her record, offering vague responses that failed to address Trump’s pointed criticisms.

With the debate now over, both campaigns are gearing up for the next major event—the vice presidential debate between Sen. JD Vance (R-OH) and Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN). However, it remains unclear whether Harris and Trump will face off again before the election.
