Rand Paul Vows To Advance Trump’s Cabinet Choices

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) has committed to advancing President-elect Donald Trump’s cabinet nominations swiftly. With his new role as chair of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, Paul has pledged to confirm several nominees during Trump’s first week in office.

In an interview with Maria Bartiromo on Fox News, Paul expressed his strong support for Trump’s appointees. “I couldn’t be happier with his nominees,” Paul said. “I couldn’t have picked better. Some of them are exactly who I would’ve chosen.”

Paul highlighted nominees he plans to prioritize, including Dr. Marty Makary for the FDA, Dr. Jay Bhattacharya for the NIH, and Kristi Noem for the Department of Homeland Security. He also praised the selection of Russ Vought and Pete Hegseth for key positions.

Paul’s committee is tasked with overseeing critical agencies, including the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency and FEMA. His leadership will be instrumental in moving Trump’s nominees through the confirmation process.

Paul added to the conversation about Washington reform by suggesting Elon Musk as a candidate for Speaker of the House. While he admitted the idea was partly tongue-in-cheek, Paul commended Musk for his efforts to shine a light on government inefficiency.

Paul’s fiscal focus was evident in his recent opposition to a spending bill. He joined Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and nine Republican colleagues in rejecting the measure over concerns about federal waste.
