Pit Bull Mauls New York Pizzeria Worker After Owner Is Asked To Take Dog Outside

A New York City pizzeria worker is fighting for his life after being savagely attacked by a pit bull Monday night in Manhattan. The incident took place at Roma Pizza on Fifth Avenue when Tyshaun Watson, the dog’s owner, was asked by the worker to take the unleashed dog outside.

Witnesses say Watson reacted violently, first stepping behind the counter to assault the worker. The altercation then moved outside, where Watson’s pit bull unleashed a brutal attack on the employee. A co-worker described the horrifying scene: “The dog was biting him, and then [Watson] stomped on his head until he went unconscious.”

Watson reportedly only stopped the assault because he believed the worker was dead. He allegedly reprimanded the pit bull afterward, telling it it wouldn’t be fed for failing to “finish the job.” Watson then casually returned to the restaurant and waited for authorities to arrive.

Other employees, fearing for their safety, fled through the back of the store and locked the doors from the outside, trapping Watson inside until police arrived. The arrest was caught on video, showing Watson with an apparent bite wound on his arm, likely caused by his own dog during the attack.

The victim was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition but is expected to survive. Police have taken the pit bull into custody, though it is unclear whether the dog will be euthanized. Watson faces charges of attempted murder, along with potential additional charges related to the violent encounter.
