Paxton Sues Biden-Harris Administration Over Voter Roll Verification

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has filed a lawsuit against the Biden-Harris Administration, accusing them of failing to follow federal law regarding the verification of voter rolls. Paxton’s suit specifically targets Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and other officials, stating they have refused to assist in verifying the citizenship status of potentially ineligible voters registered in Texas.

On October 7, Paxton sent a formal request to the federal government, asking them to verify the citizenship status of about 450,000 registered voters who may have registered without providing a Texas-issued driver’s license or identification card. This verification is required by federal law to ensure that noncitizens are not unlawfully registered to vote.

Despite the legal obligations, the Biden-Harris Administration has refused to comply with the request, prompting Paxton to pursue legal action. Paxton emphasized the importance of verifying these voters, even if the majority are likely eligible citizens.

“The Biden-Harris Administration has refused to comply with federal law, presenting yet another obstacle for Texas to overcome in ensuring free and fair elections,” Paxton said. The Texas Secretary of State has joined Paxton as a co-plaintiff in the case.

This lawsuit highlights Paxton’s ongoing efforts to maintain election integrity in Texas, particularly as the state prepares for upcoming elections.
