New York Firefighters Investigated For Booing Letitia James

New York Attorney General Letitia James was booed at a firefighter’s ceremony on Thursday, drowned out by a crowd who shouted, “Trump! Trump! Trump!”

The booing erupted as James walked up to the podium to honor the swearing-in of the first African-American woman chaplain of the FDNY, Rev. Pamela Holmes, and other first responders.

“Oh, come on, we’re in a house of God. Simmer down,” James told the rowdy crowd. “Thank you for getting it out of your system.”

James and her office recently began investigating former President Donald Trump and his associates for allegedly overstating his net worth and the value of some of his assets over the years to secure more favorable business loans.

As part of the politically-motivated civil fraud lawsuit that resulted from that investigation, the parties involved were found liable for a pattern of fraud in September by Judge Arthur Engoron. In February, Trump was ordered to pay roughly $355 million in damages, around $450 million after pre-judgment interest.

During a promotion ceremony last week for the New York City Fire Department’s (FDNY) new chaplain, Pamela Holmes, boos and chants of Trump’s name broke out from department members when James, a friend of Holmes’, made her speech.

According to materials reportedly provided to the Viral News NYC account on X, formerly Twitter, the Uniformed Fire Officers Association (UFOA), a significant firefighter union in the city, chastised members for the chants, which they deemed inappropriate given the circumstances.

“Beginning today, deputy chiefs will visit each company in attendance to discuss the events and offer members the opportunity to come forward. Additionally, they may inform members that the Department has video footage of the event,” one of the messages read.

James suffered backlash for her blatant targeting of former President Donald Trump, and now, it seems, she’s looking to cause a backlash of her own. Is it so surprising that she would instigate a politically-motivated investigation?
