The August jobs report from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) has raised significant concerns about the direction of the American job market under the Biden-Harris administration. According to the report, 1.3 million native-born Americans lost their jobs last month, while 635,000 foreign-born workers secured employment. This disparity has led to widespread criticism from conservatives, who argue that current policies are failing American workers.
Former President Donald Trump was quick to voice his disapproval, calling the report a “disaster” for U.S. citizens. Trump emphasized that open-border policies are allowing foreign nationals, including illegal immigrants, to take jobs that should be going to native-born Americans. “I’ve warned this would happen,” Trump stated, blaming the administration’s immigration policies for the shift in employment.
Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) also expressed his frustration with the report, highlighting how these policies are directly harming American families. “Illegal immigration is driving down wages and taking jobs away from our citizens,” Lee said. He urged the administration to reconsider its approach to immigration and labor policy.
In addition to the loss of full-time jobs, the report also showed an increase in part-time employment. The BLS revealed that 438,000 full-time jobs were lost, while 527,000 part-time positions were created. Part-time roles often come without benefits, leaving many families struggling to make ends meet.
Critics argue that the shift from full-time to part-time work is another sign that the Biden-Harris administration’s policies are failing to support American workers. As inflation continues to rise, many families are left in a precarious financial situation, unable to find the stable, full-time work they need.
With foreign-born workers continuing to gain employment at the expense of native-born Americans, many conservatives are calling for immediate changes to U.S. immigration and labor policies.
