“We’re just good friends,” she stated, according to The Mirror. She acknowledged that their on-court partnership has provided some light-hearted entertainment for fans, telling the New York Post, “I’m glad the internet is having fun and we’re providing some entertainment for everyone.”
A U.S. Open Partnership Sparks Speculation
The gossip surrounding the two 22-year-old Grand Slam champions reached a fever pitch in recent weeks after it was announced they would be teaming up to play in a new-look mixed doubles event at the U.S. Open in August. Raducanu confirmed that Alcaraz was the one who initiated the on-court partnership. “Yes, he asked me,” she revealed. “He asked me earlier on in the year, and I was very surprised, honored, and excited.”

She recalled their time at the 2021 U.S. Open, where she won the women’s title and he had a breakout run to the quarterfinals. “I remember he beat Stef [Tsitsipas] in the third round, and it was like a big win,” she said, as reported by Sportskeeda. “It was really cool to kind of, I guess, go through that tournament together, and then I kept going… but we were staying in touch for the whole time.”
With the rumors now addressed, Raducanu’s focus returns to the court. She is set to face fellow Brit, teenage wildcard Mingge Xu, in the first round at Wimbledon.
