A resident of Asheville, North Carolina, shared his frustration with the Biden administration’s response to Hurricane Helene, accusing the federal government of neglecting storm victims while focusing on migrants. Jordan Lanning appeared on Fox News’ “Jesse Watters Primetime,” where he criticized the administration’s delayed aid, which took five days to reach his community.
Lanning expressed disappointment that President Biden didn’t visit the devastated areas in person, calling the response “disgraceful.” He added, “They keep saying we the people, but it’s all about them. They tell us what we need instead of listening to us.”
The one-time $750 payment for immediate needs, such as food and baby supplies, has done little to quell the frustration. Many, including Lanning, believe the amount is not enough to help those who have lost their homes and belongings. “There’s people that have lost everything,” he said.
Lanning also criticized the administration for prioritizing aid to migrants over hurricane survivors. “They’re putting other people before their own,” he said. The federal government has spent over $1 billion on migrant assistance, leaving many storm victims feeling abandoned.
With more than 130 deaths and hundreds still missing, the aftermath of Hurricane Helene has left communities in the Southeast reeling. Survivors like Lanning are calling for more meaningful action from the federal government to help Americans recover.
