Democrat Mayors Request ‘Urgent Meeting’ With Biden Over Immigration Crisis

Five Democrat mayors have sent a letter requesting an “urgent meeting” with President Joe Biden about the mass influx of illegal aliens into their cities.

The October 28 letter was signed by New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D), Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson (D), Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass (D), Denver Mayor Mike Johnston (D), and Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner (D) — who also traveled to Washington, D.C., on Thursday to meet with Congress about the illegal immigration crisis.

The Democrat mayors began the letter by thanking Biden for his “courageous actions” in allocating $1.4 billion in American taxpayer funds for food and shelter for illegal aliens, and for approving work permits for Venezuelan illegal aliens. However, that was not enough — as the mayors went on to demand more taxpayer money to deal with the consequences of the open-border policies that they continue to support.

“While these courageous actions represent critical first steps, we believe additional action is needed and believe as the Mayors leading many of our most affected cities we can be helpful partners in identifying solutions,” the letter read. “To address this crisis without further delay, we are requesting an urgent meeting with you to directly discuss ways we can work with your administration to avoid large numbers of additional asylum seekers being brought to our cities with little to no coordination, support, or resources.”

These Democrat politicians and their allies have had no issue with illegal immigration when the problem was only affecting border towns and states — but now that it has gotten worse under the Biden administration and begun causing significant problems in their cities, they have demanded that the president take action to mitigate the issue.

Over the past few years, the Biden administration has been transporting illegal aliens from the southern border into communities across the United States. Red state governors like Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) have also been sending busloads of illegal aliens to “sanctuary cities” like New York City, Chicago, and Washington, D.C., as part of an effort to force these jurisdictions to experience the consequences of the open-border policies they support.

The influx has cost these Democrat cities hundreds of millions of dollars and has overwhelmed city services, including shelter systems — causing governments to begin building tent cities to house illegal aliens. Now, the Democrat mayors are demanding the Biden administration hand over more taxpayer money to fund housing for these illegal aliens.

“Cities have historically absorbed and integrated new migrants with success, but the challenges brought by the new border arrivals are due not only to the high numbers but also the diversity of nationalities, the large share arriving as families, and the overwhelming number who seek asylum. Given the impact this crisis has had — and continues to have — on state and local budgets we respectfully advocate for additional funding,” the mayors wrote, demanding an additional $5 billion in federal funding for the issue.

The letter went on to request that the Biden administration ease work permit requirements for illegal aliens and speed up the process of adjudicating asylum claims for illegal aliens.

As the Democrat mayors are still in favor of illegal immigration and open borders, they refused to ask Biden to increase security at the southern border — instead requesting that the president “adopt a collaborative federal approach around coordinated entry” into the U.S.

“The federal government and nonprofit partners — not the governors of the states at which recent migrants arrive — must coordinate the geographic movements of recent arrivals,” the letter continued.
