Planet Fitness is facing heavy boycotts over a scandal in which a member had her membership canceled for reporting a man in the womens’ locker room.
The incident happened in the Fairbanks, Alaska location and involved a man shaving and getting dressed in the locker room.
On March 11, the female involved posted a photo of the invasion on social media platform X, and it went viral. The woman stated that she “loves the man in Christ” and understands if he “identifies” as a woman, but that having him in the female locker room was not appropriate and made her very uncomfortable.
Furthermore, an adolescent girl who looked to be about 12 years old was in the locker room and only wrapped in a towel while the adult male was present. According to the account of the adult female who reported the man, the girl seemed “freaked out” over the male’s presence. It is especially this kind of situation that makes young girls vulnerable to potential predators and compromises both their safety and comfort.
Planet Fitness responded to the situation by revoking the woman’s membership, saying that taking photos and videos in the locker room is a violation of their policies.
McCall Gosselin, who is the Chief Corporate Affairs Officer for Planet Fitness, referred to the gym as a “judgment-free zone” and said in a statement that “Our gender identity non-discrimination policy, states that members and guests may use the gym facilities that best align with their sincere, self-reported gender identity. The member who posted on social media violated our mobile device policy that prohibits taking photos of individuals in the locker room, which resulted in their membership being terminated.”
In response to the outrageous incident, Planet Fitness has seen a devaluation of stock by 14% within a week. They are also seeing mass membership cancellations as “#BoycottPlanetFitness” trends on X.
We the people have the power
Cancel your #PlanetFitness memberships. I cancelled mine yesterday. Their gym sucks anyways 😂 https://t.co/4JyLdLy5vm

The boycott is one of a string of protests against large and powerful companies either submitting to woke policies in an attempt to virtue signal or actively promoting them as part of a social crusade. Within the last year, Bud Light faced a nation-wide boycott over its endorsement of a transgender person as their spokesperson, and Tyson Foods is currently under consumer pressure for attempting to lay off American blue-collar workers in favor of hiring thousands of illegal immigrants at a lower cost.
As violent Marxist organizations like Antifa and Black Lives Matter get away with burning down buildings and looting stores as forms of “protest,” conservatives know that they will not get away with such actions and instead are peacefully protesting with their bank accounts.
