Border Wall Auctions Draw Criticism From Border Security Advocates

Unused border wall materials are being auctioned off by the Biden administration in its final weeks in power, sparking accusations of sabotage against President-elect Donald Trump’s plans to resume construction along the southern border.

The Daily Wire reported that steel bollard wall sections, left untouched during Biden’s term, are now being hauled away from Arizona locations like Tucson and Nogales. The materials are sold through GovPlanet, a government auction site, with bids starting as low as $5.

A whistleblower from Customs and Border Protection described the rapid pace of removal, stating that up to half a mile of wall sections are being transported north each day. “The goal is to move all of it off the border before Christmas,” the source told the Daily Wire.

Critics argue that the auction is a deliberate effort to hinder Trump’s ability to quickly restart border wall construction once he takes office. Rep. Eli Crane (R-AZ) stated, “The Biden administration is purposefully hamstringing an incoming president. This is nothing short of sabotage.”

During Biden’s presidency, the administration halted construction on the border wall and allowed millions of illegal immigrants to cross into the country. Critics say the auctions are a waste of taxpayer resources and a continuation of failed immigration policies.

Trump has pledged to use an executive order to secure funds for resuming construction, a key promise that helped him win the election. However, the administration’s removal of these materials could make the process more difficult and time-consuming.
