New York City Mayor Eric Adams said President Joe Biden responded to his concerns about the migrant crisis by telling him to “be a good Democrat.” Adams made the statement during an interview with Tucker Carlson, where he discussed the struggles his city is facing due to the overwhelming influx of illegal immigrants.
According to Adams, New York City is being forced to accommodate thousands of migrants without enough federal support. He highlighted the strain on housing, healthcare and education services as major concerns, adding that the situation is becoming unsustainable.

The mayor, who is dealing with bribery and fraud charges, said his frustration extends beyond immigration and into broader issues within the Democratic Party. He claimed that party leadership has failed to address the real concerns of everyday Americans, especially those affected by the migrant surge.
During the interview, Carlson pressed Adams about New York’s sanctuary city policies and their impact on the crisis. Adams pushed back, saying the issue is rooted in federal mismanagement rather than local policies.

Despite backlash from some Democrats, Adams defended his conversation with Carlson, emphasizing the importance of engaging with different viewpoints to find practical solutions to the crisis.
Adams has stated his willingness to collaborate with incoming border czar Tom Homan to ensure that criminal migrants face deportation and that law-abiding residents feel safer in their communities.
