Armed Gang Strikes Prison Convoy In Deadly Ambush

Two Guards Killed As Convicted Felon Escapes During Brazen Attack In Northern France

An armed gang ambushed a prison convoy, deploying heavy weapons and targeting guards transporting inmates in Normandy’s Eure region.

The audacious attack left two officers dead and three seriously injured. One convicted felon named Mohamed Amra also escaped during the chaos.

The 30-year-old Amra faced robbery charges. Authorities revealed he was also under investigation for suspected involvement in a kidnapping case linked to a death in Marseille.

Hundreds joined the manhunt as President Emmanuel Macron vowed justice for “this crime.” He called the assault “a shock to us all.”

Public prosecutor Laure Beccuau said the two slain guards left grieving spouses behind – one was five months pregnant. An investigation into organized crime, murder, and illegal weapons possession opened. France has recently tackled drug trafficking’s rising violence nationwide.

“All means are being used to find these criminals,” vowed Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin (D-FR). President Emmanuel Macron (D-FR) labeled the assault using “heavy weapons” as “a shock for all of us.” It came amid France’s crackdown on surging drug trafficking violence.
