The Texas GOP is launching an investigation into reports that Democrats are registering noncitizens to vote outside Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) locations.
The allegations gained traction after Fox Business host Maria Bartiromo shared details of voter registration tables allegedly set up at DMV offices in Weatherford and Fort Worth. According to the report, immigrants lined up for licenses were being encouraged to register to vote without proper verification of their citizenship status.
Parker County Republican Party Chairman Brady Gray responded by pledging a full investigation. Gray stated that the situation is indicative of a broader Democrat strategy to influence elections by circumventing legal safeguards.
Bo French, the chairman of the Tarrant County GOP, called the reports “beyond troubling” and urged state leaders to take immediate action, including stricter enforcement of voter ID laws and enhanced border security measures.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton amplified the concerns by sharing Bartiromo’s post and later releasing a statement promising that his office would aggressively pursue any illegal activity. Paxton warned that anyone found registering noncitizens to vote or participating in illegal voting schemes would face harsh legal consequences.
The investigation reflects broader Republican concerns that Democrats may be undermining the state’s election integrity through questionable voter registration tactics, particularly in the lead-up to the 2024 election.
